We went out to the desert for Easter of 2008 and it was the hottest it’s ever been at the desert. When I got out there I was like thank god for the heat cause I was getting tired of the rain everyday. When you’re riding at the desert when it’s hot you don’t feel the heat anyways, so the heat was a good thing.
I love riding at the desert mostly jumping the dunes and doing some crazy tricks for the people watching.
The first trick I did was a no-footer and I liked that so I ended up extending it to a heel-clicker, after I did that I came back and my Dad said, “why don’t you try a no-hander”, so I went to the bottom of the dune and I jumped it but I though when you jumped you could take your hands off right as you jump but you can’t so I was doing a no-hander but my bike wasn’t even in the air my front end was going straight at the ground.
I was flying threw the air with my front wheel looking at the ground and my hands were off the bike. I landed with my hands off the bike and managed to get them back on and not crash.
When you’re like 50FT in the air and feel like your going to crash the words that you say is “OWWWW Crap!” That’s exactly what I was saying when I was flying threw the air when my hands were off the bike. I ended up finding out that you take your hands off when you’re at the highest point and you won’t fly forward in the air. I ended up getting the no-handed down and I Tried to think of some new tricks to do. First, I thought what’s the next easiest trick then I thought the saran wrap.
The saran wrap is were you throw your left foot and left hand over the left side of your handlebar then you throw your right hand and right foot over your right side of the handle-bar. So I ended up doing that trick my first try. That trick was one of the easiest.
Then I ended up doing heel-clicker one-hander which is called a rodeo. Because with the hand your have on your handlebar you grab the middle of your handlebar. I’ve missed the middle handlebar a couple of times but saved myself by making it a bar hop and grabbing my handlebars with both hands then landing it. Then I was thinking of some new tricks again so I went up the dune and sat were everyone was sitting.
